Will Smith’s popularity is dwindling as his “Q Score” falls in the aftermath of the “Oscar Slap” incident.
It’s been months since the world was shocked by the news of Smith and Chris Rock’s on-stage altercation in which the “Men in Black” actor slapped the comedian after making a joke about Smith’s wife’s illness.
According to the data revealed by “Q Scores,” his score dropped by 15%, which Henry Schafer, the executive vice president of Q Scores, interpreted as a “very significant and precipitous decline.”
In terms of Rock’s “Q Score,” the graph shows that the “Oscar Slap” incident has helped him maintain his score in both positive and negative ratings from the public.
It follows the infamous “Oscar Slap” at the 94th Academy Awards, which barred Smith from attending for the next ten years.
Smith slapped Rock across the face after the comedian joked about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Jada revealed in 2018 that she was diagnosed with alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss, and that it may be inappropriate for her husband to make fun of someone else’s illness.
According to the video, Smith walked up the stairs to the stage, slapped Rock, and told him to keep his wife’s name out of his “f——— mouth!”
Smith’s apology to Rock in a video he posted on YouTube. Smith admitted that he was fogged out by that point, and it’s all fuzzy, but he tried to reach out to Chris, and the “message that came back is that he is not ready to talk.”
However, Rock has promised to contact Smith when he is ready.
After answering the first question, Smith apologized to Rock as if he was speaking directly to him.
He even apologizes to Rock’s mother and family for causing them pain.
He also spoke about how the incident affected him and his life, claiming that he spent three months replaying and comprehending the nuances and complexities of “what happened [at] that moment.”
Smith admitted that his behaviour was inappropriate, saying, “There is no part of me that believes that is the best way to deal with feelings of disrespect or insults.”
Meanwhile, some people are tweeting their thoughts on “cancelling” Smith after the “Slap” incident, saying that while he agrees that what Smith did was heinous, he believes he should not be cancelled.
Furthermore, the negative rating of the “Pursuit of Happiness” star rose from eight in January to 26 in July 2022, a significant increase in less than a year.
On the other hand, it appears that Smith is not the only one who has received negative feedback as a result of the incident. Jada Pinkette Smith’s “Q Score” has also dropped dramatically.
