Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie are reportedly in talks to resurrect Warner Bros.’ biggest heist franchise, “Ocean’s Eleven.”

Puck was the first to disclose Gosling’s interest in joining the “Oceans” films, which will be one of Warner Bros’ biggest properties outside of DC and “Harry Potter,” in an interview with Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav. The reboot’s details were first revealed in May of this year.

After co-starring as Ken and Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s next “Barbie” film in 2023, Gosling will join Robbie in the “Ocean’s Eleven” series revival. Jay Roach, a four-time Emmy winner, will direct the picture, while Carrie Solomon will write the script. Margot Robbie will executive produce alongside Tom Ackerley and Michelle Graham.

No details about Solomon’s script have been published, but the prequel story is believed to take place in 1960s Europe, far from Las Vegas, where the George Clooney-fronted trilogy from the early 2000s was set.

Gary Ross, Olivia Milch, and Josey McNamara will serve as executive producers for the revival. Village Roadshow is also said to be participating as an executive producer and may co-finance.

Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie have also collaborated with Warner Bros. on the live-action “Barbie” picture, which is set to debut on July 21, 2023. According to a source at Hollywood Life, the two seasoned actors became close while filming.

The source stated:

“It’s one of the most fun films she’s ever worked on and she couldn’t imagine a better co-star than Ryan. He keeps her laughing all day and they have amazing chemistry.”

The “Ocean’s” franchise debuted in 2001, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, and others. What started out as a recreation of the original 1960 heist thriller became an unexpected series.

Following the success of Soderbergh’s “Ocean’s Eleven,” which grossed over $450 million worldwide, two further parts were released: “Ocean’s Twelve” in 2004 and “Ocean’s Thirteen” in 2007. In 2018, the franchise returned with “Ocean’s Eight,” a female-centric spinoff starring Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, and Rihanna.

The planned reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is in active development but has not yet been greenlit. The team, however, hopes to begin production in 2023.
