Amy Grant has opted to postpone her forthcoming tours for the time being in order to focus on her health.
Grant’s management said that the singer had opted to cancel her autumn tour to focus on her health following a terrifying bike accident that left her unconscious for minutes.
Jennifer Cooke, Grant’s manager, stated on her Instagram page that the singer survived the accident just like she did following her heart surgery. Nonetheless, she had to cancel and reschedule her gigs in order to ensure her recuperation.
“We are amazed at how fast she heals. However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina,” the manager revealed.
The choice was taken because she wants to give her all whenever she performs. However, she needs extra time to recuperate because rehearsals may impede her from recovering quickly.
Instead, she will return to the stage early next year, from February through April of 2023.
Grant also expressed her appreciation to those who have sent her good wishes.
Cooke also stated that the singer would be back on the road for her forthcoming Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith. She would also appear alongside Vince Gill in her annual Christmas at the Ryman residency.
Grant raised eyebrows when she was involved in an accident while riding her bicycle with a buddy and hit a pothole.
She was transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, for treatment of wounds and abrasions, according to TODAY. Despite the fact that she was dressed at the time of the occurrence, she was admitted to the hospital and kept overnight as a precaution.
She stayed at home to heal, but her doctor urged her to cancel her August concerts in Wilmington, Chattanooga, Johnson City, and Knoxville.
Meanwhile, her husband and their daughter, Corrina, sang “When My Amy Prays” during Grant’s stay in Nashville to show their affection for him.
“Last night Vince performed his second concert of a four night residency at the Ryman. He informed the crowd that Amy was getting better every day after a bike crash last week that left her unconscious for about 10 minutes and with a concussion (along with various cuts and bruises),” the post on the singer’s Facebook page read.
Corrina also modified one of the lyrics to “When my mother prays.”
