Calls for former President Donald Trump to run for office in 2024 have grown louder, particularly now that he is being investigated by the Department of Justice and the FBI for allegedly stealing government records.

According to sources close to the situation, he has already “made up his mind” about his decision for 2024. Trump’s current political advisers advise him to declare his candidacy as soon as possible in order to avoid the possible indictment that the Mar-a-Lago raid has resulted in.

The FBI raided President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, last August 8, seizing top-secret and classified government documents, including nuclear weaponry records.

Is Donald Trump Going to Run for President in 2024?

Currently, ex-President Donald Trump has not officially confirmed whether he will run for the Oval Office a third time. However, because of his current legal issues with the US Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, his political advisers advise him to declare his candidacy for president.

The recent Mar-a-Lago raid, according to The Washington Post, has “added urgency” for those of his political advisers who favor an early campaign launch. Trump, however, has not yet committed to a timetable.

Meanwhile, sources say that if Trump declares his candidacy for president, it will be “harder” for the DOJ to indict a candidate for office.

This has been the Republican party’s overarching sentiment. Last week, Indiana Congressman Jim Banks and a dozen members of the House Republican Study Committee met with Trump.

President Donald Trump could face a ten-year prison sentence

Legal analysts have pointed out that former President Donald Trump is in hot water for allegedly violating the Espionage Act since the raid last week.

In the affidavit that was made public and is now being resealed, U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart signed the warrant, which alleges that Trump violated 18 U.S.C. 793, as well as two other statutes.

For reference, 18 U.S.C. 793 is a provision of the Espionage Act that punishes the mishandling of sensitive national security information. If found guilty, Trump could face up to ten years in prison.

As of today, the Department of Justice is continuing its investigation into Trump’s alleged violation and resealing of the widely publicized affidavit on the Mar-a-Lago raid.

In an interview with The New York Post, he stated that despite the controversial Mar-a-Lago raid, Trump “didn’t seem defeated in the least bit.” Banks even claimed that he was “very fired up, very upbeat” throughout the event.
