Royal parents Prince William and Kate Middleton were not there for the dissing of their daughter, Princess Charlotte, so clapping back was the only option.
Radio host Greg James revealed how they handled it as he mocked the 4-year-old Princess shaking hands with her teacher on her first day of school back in September 2019.

The pictures show Princess Charlotte arriving with her mom and dad at Thomas’s Battersea School in South London, greeting her new headteacher with a handshake. The little one, who was joining her big brother at the same school, was all-smile while wearing her school uniform that includes a navy pleated skirt, cardigan, and a pair of black shoes.
The 33-year-old Radio 1 DJ had a laugh on air when he saw the photos, saying how “fancy” the school must be for students to shake hands with their teachers.

“Who the hell shakes hands with their teacher on the first day?”
Fast forward to a few weeks later, James told The Mirror that after the mocking, he went to Kensington Palace to meet the royals for Radio 1’s Teen Heroes awarding ceremony.
Prince William and Kate were at the event, and it’s right then and there that he got a quiet word with royal parents.

“[Kate and William] said, ‘We were listening on the morning of little Charlotte’s first day, and we want to talk to you about the handshaking thing.'”
James continued:
“I went, ‘Oh God, no!’ They’d heard me saying this school was so posh they had to shake hands with their teacher every day.”
The royal then told him:
“They were not like that in my dad. You were pleased if you got a smile.”

While the Radio 1 DJ didn’t reveal what was said beyond that, he joked that he was, luckily, not exiled to another country or locked up in the Tower of London.
To convince himself that was the case, he just said:
“I’m sure it’s all absolutely fine.”
With that being said, it sounds like the Cambridges may not be back on The Breakfast Show with Greg James and will be losing two critical listeners. However, it’s not just the Radio 1 DJ who was in hot water for mocking a royal child.

Good Morning America host Lara Spencer mocked Prince George for taking ballet classes.
She said during her live telecast:
“Prince William, we’ll see how long that lasts. Between the religious studies and computer programming, he may want to go back to Play-Doh!”
After her co-hosts joined in on the growing backlash over her comments, Spencer apologized a week later saying:
“The moment I made about dance was insensitive. It was stupid, and I am deeply sorry. I have learned about the bravery it takes for a young boy to pursue a career in dance.”
