Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip get vaccinated as COVID-19 continues to threaten the U.K.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip received the COVID-19 vaccine at Windsor Castle on Saturday, Jan. 9. According to a statement, Her Majesty decided to publicize the couple’s inoculations and confirmed that they received the first doses this weekend.

The parents of Prince Charles have joined the 1.5 million British citizens who have been given the first dose of vaccination. Royal officials stated that they decided not to comment on the health status of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to prevent inaccuracies and escalate speculations.

Most, if not all, are aware that Britain became the first country in the world to ever kick-start mass vaccination drive against the deadly COVID-19. The government revealed that it is planning to deliver the first vaccine doses to 15 million people, including frontliners, care home residents, people with advanced age and others who are vulnerable to the coronavirus, by February.

To recall, Prince Charles tested positive for the COVID-19 in March 2020, which forced him to go into quarantine. The husband of Camilla Parker-Bowles revealed that he only experienced mild symptoms and said she had got away with the fatal disease quite lightly.

Prince William, who is the son of the Prince of Wales, also tested positive for the coronavirus. As of late, the United Kingdom has recorded more than 3 million COVID-19 cases with more than 800,000 deaths. It was also in the U.K. where a new variant of the coronavirus at the start of 2021.
