President Moon Jae In sent fans into frenzy when he mentioned BTS and BLACKPINK during his 2021 New Year’s Address on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.

The most powerful man in South Korea commended everyone who made the added color to the country’s banner, especially in the fields of pop culture, arts and sports.

President Moon acknowledged the fact that BTS, BLACKPINK and the “Parasite” movie have brought high-quality entertainment and happiness to many people around the world and said his administration would help in strengthening the status of the so-called “K-Contents” this year.

He even shared that South Korean athletes like Gwang Hyun Kim, Jin Young, Hyun Jin Ryu and Heung Min Son have given a spark of hope and comfort to several fans globally, which is something that President Moon is truly proud of.

Reports have it that it is very unusual for President Moon Jae In to mention celebrities and personalities in his speeches, especially since most of his message center on economy, health, environment and other issues that South Korea has faced.

It is clear, however, that President Moon mentioning BTS, BLACKPINK and Son Heung Min means that he appreciates their works and achievements in the past year, especially amid the perils brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In September 2020, President Moon Jae In revealed his administration would take a leap forward as the world’s leading digital content nation and continue fostering the ecosystem of the digital contents industry with the Korean New Deal.
